Doggerel: Haiku
Haiku is a classical Japanese verse form. The salient characteristic for English-language haiku is the meter: 17 syllables are always divided into three lines: five-seven-five. Other elements of Japanese haiku, such as a reference to the season, are not insisted on in English-language haiku, which unlike the Japanese form are often humorous in intent and effect.
I tend to write haiku in bursts – the meter gets in my brain and I cannot stop. The following posts collect some bursts by topic.
